Lemhi county was the homeland of Sacajawea the famous Lemhi Shoshone woman who traveled with and aided Lewis and Clark for thousands of miles from North Dakota to the Pacific ocean. The town itself has its origins in mining, lumber, and ranching. Over the years it has evolved into a scenic getaway with a welcoming community, restaurants, hotels, and endless outdoor recreation in all four seasons.
