  • Advance reservations are highly recommended.
  • We suggest that children be at least 4 yrs old on single-day trips, & 6 yrs old on multiday trips.
  • Departure times may vary from those listed depending on river conditions and/or other scheduled activities.
  • Water shoes/sandals & quick drying shorts/shirts are recommended.
  • Gratuities are at the discretion of the guest. Tips should be given directly to the guide and a general rule of thumb is 15%.

Whitewater Rafting

These whitewater float trips are a perfect way for a family or group of friends to spend quality time together in an environment where the distractions of the city simply do not exist. Gentle waves, exciting rapids (mostly Class II and III), delicious Dutch-oven dinners cooked streamside by your guide, camping along the river under clear night skies, and enjoying good old fashioned campfire camaraderie lay the foundation for a trip that is sure to build memories for a lifetime. All trips begin and end in Salmon, Idaho.

3-Day/2-Night Whitewater Rafting Trips:
Journey through approximately 49 miles on the Main Salmon River. All camping gear, meals/beverages and transportation to/from the river is included. Seize this perfect opportunity to get wet in the “whitewater capitol of the world”.

1-Day Whitewater Rafting Trips:
Paddle Raft, Oar Boat or Kayak the “River of No Return” 13-mile tour. Family fun rapids guided by experienced guides for all skill levels and ages. A full day of whitewater, riverside lunch and shuttle. The same Salmon River Canyon that turned back the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery in 1805.

Scenic Float Trips

We realize that there are a lot of different river outfitters and it can be difficult to narrow down the choices. Idaho Adventures owner Mark Troy has been guiding trips on the Salmon River for over 27 years. These trips have been designed with our guests in mind. Our hope is that people of all ages, abilities and skill levels will find enjoyment and new challenges. We are also always willing to work with you to customize a special trip that fits your needs, so please feel free to ask if you have something specific in mind that is not listed below.

Scenic Float Day Trips (Mid-June through September)
Our full-day-trips offer the opportunity to ride rapids and learn about the natural history of the Salmon valley. These floats cover 13-miles of river and always include a visit to a historic gold mine, fun rolling whitewater and a tasty riverside lunch. Typically, trips depart daily from our office in Salmon at 9am and return at 5pm.

Scenic Float Half Day Trips (Mid-June through September)
Short on time, but still want a “taste” of life along the river? Rafts (or scows) depart from right outside our office and float a very gentle stretch of the Salmon River. You will spend about 2-hours on the water (depends on river flow) and cover at least a 5-6 mile stretch of the scenic Salmon River. Snacks and beverages included. Departure time is typically 9:30am, but may vary.
